Holmfirth Fire Station was constructed in 1965 and sits on the outskirts of the village centre, being approximately 219 metres above sea level. The station covers an area of approximately 28 square miles, south west of Huddersfield and borders with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. It includes Honley, Upperthong, Holme Village, Holmbridge, Hinchliffe Mill, Hade Edge, Hepworth, Jackson Bridge, New Mill, Brockholes, Thongsbridge, Netherthong, Deanhouse, Totties, Scholes, Wooldale, Burnlee and Parkhead.
